Journal and screenshots
Write a short entry for each trading day, attach chart screenshots to trades and days, and look back over it all.
Applies to TradeScope 2.4 · Updated September 2026
The Journal is where you record how a day went and why. TradeScope fills in the numbers from your trades, so you only write what the numbers can’t tell you.

The five tabs
| Tab | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Daily Entry | Write or edit one day’s entry |
| Book | Read your journal like a book, one day per page |
| Calendar | See which days you’ve journaled; click a day to open it |
| All Entries | Search and browse every entry in a table |
| Insights | See how your mood, mistakes and strategies relate to your P&L |
Writing a daily entry
Use the arrows next to the date to move between days, or click the date to pick one from a small calendar. Green dots mark journaled days and red dots mark days with trades but no entry. Under the date, TradeScope counts how many trading days still need an entry.
The top of the page shows the day’s P&L, Trades, Win Rate and Mood. Click the trades summary to see every trade from that day.
Each entry can hold:
- Mood, from Anxious to Peak
- Execution Rating, from one to five stars
- Emotions, such as Calm, Disciplined, Frustrated or Impulsive
- Mistakes, such as FOMO Entry, Moved Stop Loss or Revenge Trading. Mistake Details appears once you pick one.
- Strategies you traded
- Market Conditions, such as Trending Up, Ranging or News-Driven. You can pick more than one.
- Notes / Reflection, Lessons Learned and Tomorrow’s Improvements
Entries save on their own a moment after you stop typing. To remove one, click Delete, then Yes, delete.
Your own strategies and conditions
Type into Add strategy… or Add condition… and press Enter. The new item is added to your list and selected for the current day. Hover over one of your own items to rename or delete it. Renaming updates every past entry that used it. Mistakes and emotions use a fixed list.
Screenshots
The built-in charts use 1-minute bars. If you trade tick, range or other charts, a screenshot is the better record. You can attach screenshots to a single trade or to a whole day.
On a trade
- Open the trade’s chart from the Trade Log or from a day on the Calendar.
- Take a snip of your chart, for example with the Windows Snipping Tool.
- Press Ctrl+V. You can also drop an image file on the window, or click Add file.
On a day
The Day screenshots box is on the Daily Entry tab and in the window that opens when you click a day on the Calendar. Paste, drop or add files the same way. Use it for anything about the whole session: market context, your DOM, a news headline.
Managing screenshots
- Captions: click a thumbnail to open it full size, then type in Add a caption….
- Reorder: drag a thumbnail to a new spot.
- Delete: click the trash icon, then click Delete? to confirm.
- PNG, JPG, GIF and WebP images up to 15 MB each are supported.
- Trades with screenshots show a camera icon and a count in the Trade Log.
The Gallery
The Gallery page in the sidebar collects every screenshot, grouped by trading day with that day’s P&L. Click any image to view it full size.
Screenshots are stored on your PC, in the TradeScope data folder, and are included in backups. They aren’t available in demo mode.
Insights

Insights looks for patterns across your entries:
- Journaling Rate, Current Streak, Days Journaled and Trading Days
- Mood vs Daily P&L and Execution Rating vs Daily P&L
- Emotion Impact, Cost of Mistakes and Strategy Performance, each showing how many days, the average P&L, win rate and total P&L
The more days you journal, the more useful these become.
Searching past entries
On the All Entries tab, search by date, notes, strategy or market condition. Click a row to open that day.
